Chris mckie, VP of Communications for Watchguard discusses the death of the firewall and its evolution to become more than the traditional firewall in order to protect organisations from the changing threat landscape. Essentially the traditional firewall has now become a unified threat management appliance. Some of the extra features in the evolved firewall device now includes restriction of social network sites, banning of applications on social network sites and data leak prevention through attachments in instant messaging.
