  • Freedom! says:

So they can “watch” even more of the population. What is easier than supplying those you watch with the means to watch them by, (especially when those you are watching are willing participants) – using the “access to information for everybody” cover story.

  • one shot says:

Because every single thing you do on government supplied broadband, every site you access, every thing you buy (and the details of the credit or debit card you use to buy it) every email you send or receive, every film, photograph, song or file you download, every opinion you express in every chatroom you access, will be recorded and filed by HM Government. Count on it.

  • ANGUS says:

They’re not obsessed with it, but are more attempting a rolling scheme to increase uptake over a long time frame.
You forget that ‘government’ is a broad term which embodies many, many different departments within. I don’t think the department concerned with ensuring the countries public access to technology is as concerned with a recession as the economics based departments are.

  • TheTechn says:

We can’t get Broadband in our village so have to put up with dial up and believe me it’s not much fun. It doesn’t matter which way you access the Internet you are still being monitored by the government, so I for one am for this. First time in history I have supported the Government lo.

  • No Picture says:

with a government infested with liars thieves and deceivers its almost imposible to know what they are up to. but what ever it is, it wont be to the good of the people, at least we can be certain of that.

  • Rommel says:

apparently its good for the economy, Japans had about 10 times our broadband speed for years and they have about 20 years of recession.

  • Ello Guv says:

So that they can shut libraries as we will have access to all the information at our fingertips. then they can make all teh staff redundant and save on salary costs, then sell what are usually interstingly beautiful buildings, sell the books etc too.
Not a conspiracy theory, just what I thought of when I saw your question.

  • pirate_p says:

It’s easier to regulate, and tax. It’s just a control mechanism. Information is no longer free.

  • Edward says:

its so they can monitor what everyone does and watch your every move. The Uk is a fascist country. Don’t worry. The U.S. is getting there too.

  • New World Order will Fail says:

It must be easier for them to monitor us and snoop on our activity.

  • reggie says:

They have shares in internet porn.

  • 203 says:

With such a bunch of crooks; my guess would be they will make money from us on the Premium Rate phone calls. lol.

  • Anthony Sowell USMC ret. says:

because the money spent on it goes in there pockets.

  • lɐnɹɐ says:

So that you, my friend can get more responses in Yahoo anwsers.

  • Sunshine says:

its because they want us to pay tax on. it. thay’re not trying to do us any favours.
