Trying To Repair My Wireless Network Connection: Clearing Dns Cache? How To?
Right… Im trying to repair my wireless network connection; and i perform this procedure: Right-Click wireless network connection (In the task bar, which contains the following:
Wireless Network Connection (BTHome-Hub5D7A)
Speed: 36.0Mbps
Signal Strength: Very Low
Status: Connected
I right click it and select the option repair (in bold writing)
It does the following:
Disables my wireless adaptor
Enables my wirless adaptor
Connects to wireless network
Renews my IP Address
Then a lot of other processes that are successfully done in a matter of seconds!
But then it says: Clearing DNS Cache
Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action could not be completed:
Clearing the DNS Cache
Any ideas? Without me having to ring my network manager? They keep you on the phone for ages, and i don’t want a great big bill to pay next month! So i want to know how to clear it. Person who finds a solution gets a well earnt 10 points. Thank-you!
If you have admin rights try the following from a command prompt:
Start – Run (or Window Key + R) and type in CMD and press enter
At the prompt type in the following, don’t type in the *press enter* part…
ipconfig /release *press enter*
ipconfig /flushdns *press enter*
You can also try disabling your wireless device and then re-enabling it. Another thing can be to use the steps above and then restart.

I am assuming you are using windows XP in which case you may go to start- control panel- network options you may need to right click the network icon for your connection and enable it. occasionally this goes down and has to be re enabled. if that is not an option or it is already enabled try turning off your wireless card and then restarting your computer. then start your wireless connection again. if this does not work it may be that the network you are connecting too is extremely busy or you are too far away from the source to obtain a clear signal
you might also try to ping the network to make sure you are not loosing packets. to do this go to run-then type cmd on the command prompt window type ping then the network name and see if it is sending and receiving the packets
