My Computer Will Not Allow Me To Install Internet Explorer 7. Is There A Program That Will Correct This?

Is there a program that will check my computer and let me safely install Internet Explorer 7? I am using IE 6 on Windows XP SP2 and like the tabbed features of IE 7, but something is blocking the installation. Since it probably involves the registry, I am hesitant to try to make changes on my own for fear of really messing the computer up.
